Low Back Pain: How can a general practitioner help?
Hospital Cipto Mangunkusumo, Indonesia

The seminar was organized on 3rd September in the one of the biggest hospitals in Indonesia with about 200 participants including mainly general practitioners and practitioners attending Medical Rehabilitation Specialists Study.

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most prevalent musculoskeletal conditions which most patients suffer from and the aim of the seminar was to broaden the awareness of low back pain management for general practitioners.

Identifying the symptoms and getting diagnosis is the first step in achieving pain relief. The following Symposium included series of lectures and discussion defining LBP and the therapy possibilities. Low back pain as a common disorder affects dorsal muscles, nerves and bones. How can general practitioners help to alleviate the patient´s pain? Treatments of back pain vary depending on how long you have had the pain, how severe it is, and patient´s individual needs and preferences.

Generally there are two ways of treatment, either manual way or using a therapy device like the BTL High Intensity Laser which represents a new generation of technology in laser therapy. By using biostimulation and photomechanical stimulation, the High Intensity Laser therapy actually heals the tissue and is an effective treatment for muscle injuries and tendinopathies. The workshop presented by Dr. I Nyoman Murdana , Sp. KFR (Medical Rehabilitation Specialist) also included a practical demonstration of the therapy and the attendees were intrigued by the BTL High Intensity Laser in action.

Take a look how the participants enthusiastically used the High Intensity Laser:
